Five Writing Challenges To Boost Creativity

Writing is a challenge for everyone. Writing fiction or nonfictional books, as well as short-form content, can be difficult. You may find yourself reusing content, but not hitting the right points.

If you feel like this, you should get creative.

Here's a list of five writing challenges that will help you increase your creativity. Let us know what you think and how they worked for you.

1. Try a new genre: Every author or writer has a favorite genre that they write in. You can choose fiction or nonfiction.

You can stretch your creativity by learning to write in different genres. Give it a shot. Learn about the genre and then get started.

2. You can write on any topic you like. You can find inspiration online. Pick a random topic to explore and then take a break from your main work.

You don't have to change your genre for this challenge. You can still create content in your field of expertise, whether it's long- or short-form. This may force you to step outside your comfort zone but it will allow you to develop new creative muscles.

3. Write one article a day: This will help you write more and faster. It may seem impossible to write one article per day. But keep at it. This will help you to increase your creativity for a month. You would end up with enough articles to create a book. Your ability to think and create would be enhanced.

4. You can find peace in writing by joining a group of writers. Learn from other people's experiences, failures, wins, and breakthroughs.

5. Participate in a writing challenge. By challenging other writers, you can build your commitment to meeting deadlines and keeping accountable for your goals. National Novel Writing Month is one such challenge. This is a yearly writing challenge and runs from November 1st through November 30th. To win, participants must write at least 50,000 words per month and 1,700 daily. This type of challenge will help you to develop a writing habit and improve your craft.

These five simple, but not so easy, challenges can help you increase your creativity as an author. We would love to know how you have been able boost your creativity as an author. Leave a comment below.
